1.5 million VISITS TO Jordan Lake every year.

Plus many other anglers, boaters, bathers, kayakers, hunters, hikers and birders who access the lake and surrounding 28,000 acres of public land outside the park boundaries.

Over 300,000 of us depend on Jordan Lake for clean, safe drinking water in Cary, Morrisville, Apex, Northern Chatham County and Research Triangle Park.

Jordan Lake serves multiple purposes in the lives of our residents, visitors and families. Yet it’s 180 miles of shoreline is littered with trash that ...

  • Threatens to mar the natural beauty of the shoreline

  • Destroys the natural habitat of wildlife living along the shoreline

  • Endangers boaters when floating and submerged

  • Causes injury to birds and animals

  • Seep chemicals into the lake water

  • Hurt the local economy by driving away visitors

Clean Jordan Lake was co-founded in July 2009 by Dr. Thomas Colson (now employed by the National Park Service) and Dr. Francis DiGiano, Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill. We are a recognized nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Federal tax code.

We Help enable Local Community Members and businesses to remove trash from the shoreline and to promote public awareness of the problem.

We have several programs, volunteer events and community leaders involved in our efforts.
And we are continuously working to bring more needed support on board.
