Clean Jordan Lake (CJL) provides trash bags, trash grabbers and gloves

   Requirements for Participation

  1. Conduct three cleanups per year if AASP participation, preferably in early Spring, mid-Summer and early Fall (school groups can choose a schedule to fit the academic year) OR two cleanups per year if AAFSP participation, preferably in early Spring and early Fall.

  2. Agree to a 3-year commitment 

  3. Allot about two hours to remove litter from the adopted section

  4. Notify CJL in advance of the date of each cleanup

  5. Provide your volunteers with information about safety: closed toe shoes and gloves are REQUIRED and long pants, long sleeve shirt and hat (to avoid cuts, ticks, chiggers and poison ivy) are strongly recommended

  6. Notify CJL when and where trash bags are left for pick up after each event if not bringing to Trash Collection Center

  7. Report to CJL the hours spent, number of trash bags collected, number of volunteers and any interesting items of trash after each event

Disposal of trash bags

If your site is within Chatham County, bring to nearest Chatham County Solid Waste & Recycling Collection Center. No need to be a resident of Chatham County. For other Counties, please check for available Collection Centers.

Locations: Martha’s Chapel (24 Gardner Rd, Apex, NC) , 3 miles from Farrington Rd.; Old U.S. 1 2855 Old US 1 Hwy, Moncure, NC 27559),3 miles from the intersection of Jordan Dam Rd. with Moncure-Pittsboro Rd.; and behind Cole Park Plaza off 15-501 11632 US Hwy 15 501 N, Chapel Hill, NC 27517), 2 miles north of Lystra Rd.

Procedure in Chatham County: Upon entering the Collection Center, ask booth attendant for a Yellow Permission Slip (usually on left side of desktop) and fill out. Separation recyclables and without being resident of Chatham County. 

Special Requests: Your group can choose to separate recyclables. Aluminum cans can be brought to the North Chatham Fire Dept. on Morris Rd. (proceeds go to purchase of car seats for needy families). CJL will pick up bags in special cases when not convenient for your group to bring to Chatham County Collection Center or when the number of bags is too large to transport easily.
